Infrastructure Contractor Appointed for 2.36m Sq Ft Mixed-Use Development at Gateway 14, Stowmarket, Suffolk

Gateway 14 Ltd, working with its development manager Jaynic, has awarded an infrastructure contract worth £6.4m to Jackson Civil Engineering Ltd.

The infrastructure contract for the 2.36m sq ft mixed-use development project at Gateway 14 adjacent to Junction 50 of the A14 at Stowmarket, Suffolk, includes building of a new main estate road from the roundabout on the A1120, providing direct access into the development, for the residents of The Clamps and will connect into Mill Lane.

Other works include the installation of a new toucan pedestrian crossing on the A1120 to the retail development on the opposite side of the road; gas, water and electricity mains, foul and drainage water, footpaths, and cycle lanes, the stopping up of Mill Lane and a bund to the Clamps Farm boundary.

Jason Newman, construction director at Jaynic said “the letting of this infrastructure contract is a significant milestone in our involvement at Gateway 14 and we very much look forward to the progression of these works over the coming months as the business park starts to take shape.”

Sir Christopher Haworth, chair, Gateway 14 commented:

“The start of the infrastructure development is an exciting step forward and marks the first significant works on the site.  It will bring together not only the essential utilities but also the accessibility to and around the site to allow the start of construction of the first buildings.”

Neil Robinson, Regional Director for Jackson Civil Engineering’s Eastern Division said “Jackson is delighted to have been appointed to deliver the infrastructure on this exciting project. We look forward to once again working alongside Jaynic and to playing a part in developing this major business park in East Anglia.”

Jackson’s will start on site at the end of April and is expected to complete the project within 12 months. The development of the infrastructure at Gateway 14 has been registered with the Considerate Constructor Scheme and will be managed carefully to mitigate impact whilst works are underway.
