Savills appointed as regional Marketing Agents on 2.3m mixed-use business and logistics scheme at Gateway14, Stowmarket, Suffolk

Gateway 14 Ltd, advised by its development manager Jaynic, has appointed property consultant Savills as joint agent alongside Avison Young to market the 156-acre business and logistics scheme at Junction 50 of the A14 at Stowmarket, Suffolk.

Savills is a market-leading agency along the A14 corridor with offices in Ipswich, Chelmsford and Cambridge in addition to London. It will be working with Avison Young to promote the site both in the East Anglia region, nationally and internationally. Rapleys is appointed alongside Avison Young to investigate the roadside potential of the site given its proximity to the A14.

Richard Sullivan, national head of industrial & logistics at Savills, comments: “We are very pleased to have been appointed as joint agent on Gateway 14. Our local knowledge combined with the team’s national expertise and wider international network means we are confident of finding the right occupiers for what will be a state of the art new scheme. With supply still relatively low across the East of England, we anticipate that Jaynic’s latest development will receive significant enquiries from a range of interested parties.”

Sir Christopher Haworth, chairman of Gateway 14, said:

“We are delighted to have Savills on board which completes the line-up of marketing agents for the scheme. We are moving ahead rapidly with Gateway 14 to realise our vision of delivering a multi-million-pound boost for the wider economic area of Mid Suffolk.”

Gateway 14 Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mid Suffolk District Council and recently appointed Jaynic as the development manager for the scheme. This will provide up to 2.3 million sq ft of business, logistics and commercial accommodation over the next 10-15 years, with the first buildings being available in 2021/2. A planning application will be submitted by the end of 2020, to enable a phased development on the 156-acre site.

The masterplan layout is still being developed, however the site could accommodate logistics buildings up to 1,000,000 sq ft, with roadside uses alongside the A14 frontage, and headquarters office/R&D campus style buildings.

The site can support the growth of creative and technology businesses, a sector which is already important to Mid Suffolk, while also maximising opportunities for inward investment and job creation. Part of the site has an enterprise zone allocation that providing rates relief for businesses.

The A14 corridor is one of the principal trunk routes for UK logistics offering access from the Port of Felixstowe into the heart of the UK and it is also a primary route for export to European and world markets. The site is 26 miles from the Port of Felixstowe, 12.5 miles to Ipswich and the A12, and 45 miles to M11 and links to Cambridge.
